REEL ACTION HELP MAKING YOUR VIDEO
Attend the Tips & Tricks video workshop on October 27th 2011 @ Fern Creek High School.
There are many film making tips and tutorials as well as many sources of facts, information, stats, etc. already 'out there' in the community and/or accessible by anyone who can access the internet, go to the library, etc. We are listing a few examples below in case they might be helpful but fully recommend folks do their own research. Above the Influence.
Be above the influence. This site is designed with teens in mind. It’s GREAT! Very interactive and contains various media campaigns, drug facts and info peer pressure. Teen message boards along with true stories can also be found here about how other teens have been effected by alcohol or drug related abuse.

Info, facts and more about the dangers and risks associated with alcohol abuse.
The Cost of Underage Drinking.
Find out the monetary cost of underage drinking.
Don’t Serve Teens.
This site provides information on why serving alcohol to minors isn’t the best way to protect our youth. Information on the dangers of teen drinking, state laws, statistics, techniques for stopping easy access, etc. can also be found here. While this site might be more interesting to parents, some good info can still be found here.
MADD
MADD might still be known as one of the most prominent groups who work towards preventing drunk driving. They do much more, though. This site helps link viewers with information on underage drinking, statistics, ways to advocate to keep the legal drinking age at 21, etc.
Time to talk.
This is a resource for parents about how to talk with their teen about not using drugs or alcohol. This might be handy if you plan to do a scene where a teen and their parent talk about alcohol use.
If you don't have your own video equipment, there are several ways you can still participate. You can team up with a friend who does, you can check with your school, church, community center, or relatives who might lend you one; or you can borrow one of the ReelAction project's video cameras. Details about how to borrow a video camera, free of charge, can be found on the Video Loaner Agreement' form in the form section.
RESOURCES THAT GO BEYOND MAKING A VIDEO
SAMHSA National Clearing House
Resources can be ordered/downloaded, for free or at minimal cost, from this site to share with youth, community members, coalitions, parent groups, etc. Resources can include posters, PowerPoint files, brochures, media advertisements and other information regarding substance abuse.
U.S. Census Bureau
The US Census bureau provides accurate population information including demographics such as age, race, economic status as well as population distribution. This information can be obtained for the entire US or you can personalize the information for your specific state or county.
Parents. The Anti-Drug.
This site has excellent resources for parents and other concerned persons (family, professionals, etc.) on all things ‘teen’ and how it can impact drug and alcohol use by youth. From teen tech (social networking and cell phone tips and tutorials), to information on how the media targets youth, to music and just about everything in between, this site has helpful tips, information and guides, and current-day trends impacting youth today.
The Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth
Fact sheets and statistics regarding youth consumption of alcohol can be found here in addition to print and video alcohol marketing campaigns revealing the strategies used to market to youth.
